PNE Visit Royal Preston Hospital

17 December 2015

On Wednesday, 16th December, the Preston North End first team spent the afternoon on the children's ward of Royal Preston Hospital.

The full squad was in attendance on the annual visit, to see the children who are sadly having to spend the festive period in hospital

The players spent time talking to the families, giving out goody bags as well as presenting the ward with an array of gifts for the children to play with.

It was an enjoyable afternoon for all involved, with the team bringing some much needed cheer to the children.

There was a festive feel around the ward, with smiles on the faces of the patients, staff and players alike.

Speaking of the visit, father of two John Welsh, said: "You come here and you see kids who are unwell and those who are probably going to have to stay in over christmas and your heart goes out to them.

"It's great that the lads want to come down and spend time with the kids and their families, and we put the money in to get them some presents which was great.

"But it's just about talking to the families and trying to put smiles on the kids' faces and when you see the kids' faces when they see the likes of Jermaine Beckford and Joe Garner it just gives you a good feeling.

"It's never nice to see children unwell but it's always nice to see them with smiles on their faces on days like these."
