PNE Representatives Successful In Futsal Cup

25 January 2016

PNE representatives All Hallows High School were victorious in the North West 2015/16 FLT futsal Cup after beating Blackpool in the final.

Played at the Blackburn Rovers indoor centre, All Hallows High School in Penwortham qualified by winning the Preston schools round back in November, giving them the opportunity to represent Preston North End at the tournament.
Alongside a talented PNE side, some of whom have represented North End at academy level were Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, and Accrington Stanley, with PNE drawn alongside Blackpool and Wigan in one of two groups, with every team playing each other twice.

After beating Wigan in their first game 2-1, Preston were beaten by Blackpool by the same scoreline. A 4-1 win against Wigan followed, before losing to Blackpool 3-2 in the final group stage game.

Preston booked their place in the semi-finals as runners-up, where Accrington Stanley awaited for a place in the final, and the Lilywhites representatives overcame Stanley with a 3-1 win.

In the final, Preston faced local rivals Blackpool once again, and after two previous defeats to the Tangerines, the youngsters made it third time lucky, beating Pool in a thrilling 4-2 finale.

Preston North End and All Hallows will now represent the North-West in March at the grand finals, and will be up against winning teams from each region of the country.
