Having joined the club from League of Ireland side Dundalk in January, Daryl Horgan is enjoying having a full pre-season to prepare for the new campaign at Deepdale.
The winger impressed in his first six months for North End, and feels ready to take his game to the next level after a brief break this summer.
On pre-season so far, the Irishman told iFollow PNE: "It's been very good, there have been some big changes with the new manager but so far, so good, I'm enjoying.
"He's been good, he's brought a few new ideas, a new way of playing and hopefully that will suit us and we can kick on this and move up the table.
"Last year I came in in January, luckily I played quite a bit but it's always difficult to earn a place in January but now I've had a bit of a rest, I will have pre-season behind me and hopefully I can kick on from last year." Horgan continued.
"The first game is one you would like to win, it's at home as well but it will be a tough game against Sheffield Wednesday.
"I think the first five especially look very difficult for us but we have a very good side who are young and hungry with a lot of potential and I think we can hit the ground running this year and go from strength to strength.
The 24-year-old was speaking to iFollow ahead of this week's pre-season friendlies against Morecambe and Accrington Stanley and is hoping North End can maintain their winning run.
"Theses games are important, you need to get minutes into the legs no matter what and they get your sharper. We've had two games, won both of them and we want to keep that winning mentality as well.
"It will be great to get minutes again, in pre-season the result isn't the end of the world but you want to keep on winning."
