Daniel Johnson stepped up his preparations for the new season against Morecambe, featuring for the full 90 minutes at the Globe Arena.
Johnson impressed in the middle of the park and was delighted to get the full game under his belt, and to mark it with another victory.
Speaking to iFollow PNE after the game, the 24-year-old said: "It's always good to get to 90 minutes in pre-season to test your fitness, it's another win and we are working hard to get towards that Sheffield Wednesday game.
"I think it was a good performance today by the team and a good win.
Johnson is relishing playing under new manager Alex Neil, and feels the future of the team is an exciting one under the new boss.
On the change in style, the midfielder continued: "We are adapting to new things and how he wants us to play as a team and as individuals and all we can do is listen and take it on board and then go out there and show exactly what he wants us to do.
"It's been really good so far and I think there's some really exciting things to come from us this season.
"We've taken on board what the manager wants from us and we've been showing it in training and even in the games, it's going to get better and we are going to improve as a team and as individuals and there are a lot of exciting things to come from us.
"It just shows the passion and drive that he has for us, and I think as long as we take it on board we will go to better places. I'm sure all of the boys are enjoying it, I'm definitely enjoying it. "
