Harrop Focused On Play-Off Run In

20 April 2018

Josh Harrop is staying focused on PNE picking up maximum points in the remaining three games of the regular season.

Other teams around the Play-Offs have to play each other but that is of no concern to North End’s No. 10, who believes the togetherness of the squad will help their cause.

“We’re in a great position now, we’re going to focus on the next few games and hopefully try to win them. That’s what we’re aiming for now, just getting the most points out of each game we can and see where that puts us as the end of the season,” Harrop told iFollow PNE.

“We’ve always got good spirit here and everyone, collectively, together, we all want the best and we always push to try and do the best when we’re on the pitch.

“The lads and everyone together have done great, we had a bit of a set back with a few games where we probably didn’t perform to our best but we’ve kicked on; we’ve got two wins and now we’ve got three games to play with.”

Although he may not have started as many games as some of his teammates, Josh, who is still in his first full season of first team football, has been making an impact from the bench.

It is the hard work that he puts in off the pitch that he thinks means he’s ready whenever he is called upon.

“I want to be playing from the start of games and I want to be showing what I can do but however long I get I’m going to try and do my best for the team and put in the performances I need to, to get results.

“I’ll always work on myself off the pitch to make sure I’m ready when the chance comes. If you’re not starting every game you have to do the extras.

“Maybe when we’ve got days off, where lads have played a lot of games and need the time off, I’ll always be ticking over going to the gym putting my extra bit in – so when I’m needed I’ll be fit and ready.”

Having made his professional debut at Old Trafford, scoring in a win over Crystal Palace, last season, Harrop is excited to get involved in the big occasions that playing for PNE can bring.

“Playing in front of big crowds and on big occasions, I had that at the end of last season which was a good learning curve in my career.

“I’m only excited for what’s to come with the next few games and hopefully we can push to get in the Play-Offs.

“We’ve worked hard all year and we’ve put ourselves in a great position now. We’ll play our game like we do, we’ll press on the front foot from the start and hopefully we can get all the points.”
