Liam Taking Positives From Southampton Display

26 October 2023

While disappointed with dropping two points late on against Southampton, Liam Millar was looking at the positives of a good performance against the Saints.

It looked as though North End had done enough to earn victory over Russell Martin’s side after a superb second-half turnaround courtesy of goals from Milutin Osmajić and Brad Potts.

However, with one of the final touches of the night, North End conceded an own goal in the sixth minute of added-time.

Liam said: “I think we’re obviously disappointed. I think we know we should have won that game and the performance doesn’t show the result.

“I think we should have got all three points tonight, but again sometimes it just doesn’t go your way.

“You’ve just got to try and stay positive and, look, we outplayed them and I think we were the better team tonight and deserved all three points.

“Unfortunately sometimes in football that’s not always the case so we’ll move on and try do the same thing Saturday.”

Half-time substitute Osmajić made an instant impact off the bench, equalising for his side within just six minutes of coming on as he volleyed home brilliantly from 20 yards.

He then turned provider for Potts just a few minutes later, cuing huge celebrations both on the pitch and in the stands.

Liam said: “When Pottsy scores, even when Milly scores, it’s just unreal.

“When you hear the fans be so happy and so loud and roaring, that’s what you want.

“Especially with Potty’s goal the vibes were great, so we just move on now.”
